2020; mixed-media on paper: acrylics, geological maps, letters, sewing threads
77 x 61 cm
When I use geological and geographical maps, I work on the implicit concept of finding a place – generally not on a narrative about a definite region or location. In fact, I transform a readable map in an unspecified territory. Without any cardinal direction and scale, the map I present is often unrecognizable but also open to possibilities. Proposing contradicting itinerary prospects, I render the journey dynamic, and the place uncertain and unstable.
